serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) identified as Abba, who was abducted by bandits in northern Nigeria, has reportedly been killed despite his family paying a large ransom for his release.According to reports, Abba was kidnapped by armed bandits who initially demanded ₦5 million from his family. His relatives and concerned individuals later raised about ₦10 million in an effort to secure his freedom.

However, after the ransom was reportedly delivered, the kidnappers allegedly stopped communicating with the family, raising fears that the young corps member may have been killed. Family sources say the abductors later demanded additional items, including motorcycles, even after receiving the ransom payment

Due to the prolonged silence from the kidnappers, Abba’s family has now begun preparing Islamic funeral prayers in absentia (Janaza), a religious rite performed when a person is believed to have died but their body is not available

The incident has once again highlighted the persistent problem of banditry and kidnapping affecting travelers, students, and residents across several northern states, with many Nigerians calling on authorities to strengthen security and ensure justice for victims.
